The special stage of today did not change the standings any more. Gilles is on position 26, Michael at 29.

The truck came yesterday at 10 p.m. This night the motorbikes were checked for the last time. There was not much to do, so Steffen and Wolfgang could sleep a bit, for the first time after 30 hours of driving. Yvon also came during the night to dakar, his car had some problems which costed a lot of time.

Two of the Touratech BMW f650 rallye reached Dakar. It was hard work for everybody on the team, days of hope and disappointment. In Arras 168 competitors started, 52 reached Dakar within time. This is less than a third. The extrem stages took its toll. Only very few privatiers were able to reach Dakar.

After our return to Europe we will have to work on analyzing the dakar and on deciding what will be next.

We want to make one more point: The first time Motorbikes with electronic fuel injection reached dakar. Despite a lot of warnings we tried it and we had no problems with the injection.….and we did not have to clean and adjust carburettors.….
