Endurance test - Destino Ultimate GTX

For the premium Touratech Destino Ultimate GTX boot, the test and photo tour on the ACT UK over challenging terrain and with frequently changing weather provided the perfect test conditions.

The conditions could not have been better planned: The terrain along the ACT UK offered numerous rocky passages where protection from injury is particularly important. The rain bucketed down, and there was standing water that also had to be crossed, so waterproofing was of the utmost importance. And last but not least, the team also spent a lot of time walking around sightseeing, for example, so comfort was also important.

Motocross boots are the first choice when it comes to simply protecting your feet. But they quickly reach their limits when worn on a tour. They are rarely waterproof and are designed for one trip at a time, i.e. a maximum of 45 minutes. They do not provide you with much sensitivity for operating the brake and gear levers and they are also uncomfortable to walk in.

But now there is the Destino Ultimate GTX. It offers motocross-level protection and at the same time has the comfort features of a trekking boot.

The technology

The "GTX" in the model name stands for Gore-Tex, the ultimate climate membrane for outdoor clothing. In the case of the Destino Ultimate GTX, this also means: dry feet in any weather.

Mountaineers are familiar with the Vibram brand. As in serious hiking boots, the Vibram Apex sole of the Destino provides stability and comfort, while an EVA midsole absorbs all impacts. The profiled sole ensures optimal grip – for both riding and walking.

The Dynamic Support Frame (DSF) provides calf support, a heel cup, and a stability frame to protect your lower leg. The joint at the ankle allows natural bending, while the frame counteracts overstretching. The shoe therefore moves naturally with your foot and offers excellent protection at the same time. A TPU plate, such as those also found on top class motocross boots, protects your shin. A toe cap is of course essential.

In terms of suitability for everyday use, the BOA closure system is hard to beat. With its strategic lacing points, monofilament lacing, and easy-to-use, quick release adjustment dial, this boot is quick to put on and take off and fits perfectly every time.

In a nutshell: the Destino Ultimate GTX is the ultimate adventure boot that allows riders to go to the extreme in all four seasons and still enjoy all-round comfort.

And this is what the test riders who wore the Destino Ultimate GTX on the ACT UK say:

Mirko Nagler, CSMO Nexx Helmets:

"I've worn many boots in my life and these are simply the best adventure boots I've ever tried. They're light and comfortable but at the same time strong, providing reliable protection. I have no signs of fatigue in my feet, and I also found them very comfortable when hiking. Honestly, the best motorcycle boots ever!"

Nils Buntrock, Marketing Manager Harley-Davidson, D/A/CH

"I agree with Mirko, my best adventure boot ever. They were absolutely waterproof and we drove through a lot of water! I also really like the BOA closure system: It opens wide to let your foot in and out and then closes super easy. It's so effortless compared to traditional lacing."
