The Touratech ignition coil guard wraps itself around the sensitive component like a protective hand and protects the spark plug connectors from impacts and unintentional disconnection.
The exposed position of the ignition coil on the Pan America may be an advantage during servicing. In everyday use, however, it is certainly not, especially when driving in a sporty manner.
At the same time, the protection of the ignition coil also provides guidance for the otherwise exposed ignition cables. Because without the aluminum protection, the long rear cable in particular runs dangerously free in the rider's knee area.
