TECHNOLOGY | TOURATECH SUSPENSION - UPGRADE FOR THE HIGH-END-SUSPENSION

EXTREME becomes EXTREME2: Touratech Suspension's top suspension line is getting a comprehensive upgrade. Numerous important innovations have been introduced under the new label, ensuring even better performance under the toughest conditions.
Touratech Suspension has been offering high-quality suspension elements for touring enduro bikes in the Travel range since 2012. In three versions from Level 1 to Level 2 to Extreme, adventure riders have the option of upgrading the suspension of their machine to suit their personal requirements.
Common to all products in the series is the extremely robust design and the special Touratech setup for use when travelling with high payloads. The separating piston design effectively prevents the mixing of damper oil and nitrogen.
Touratech is now replacing the top-of-the-range Extreme version with the new Extreme 2 suspension elements with numerous pioneering improvements.
ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES FOR MINIMISING INTERNAL FRICTION
The 46-millimetre-thick damper piston, which is now equipped with a ‘low friction’ piston band, boasts extremely low friction. The separating piston of the damper also has additional steering, which supports low-friction sliding. All in all, these innovative technical solutions result in a previously unrivalled sensitive response behaviour.
A high-end piston rod with a DLC coating (DLC = diamond like carbon) is available on request. This surface treatment is characterised by particular hardness and a low coefficient of friction. As a result, its surface is not only extremely resistant to scratches, but also contributes to a noticeably lower breakaway torque due to less friction in the seal - which leads to even finer response behaviour.

ADVANCED PDS FUNCTION FOR HIGHEST PUNCH-THROUGH-RESISTANCE
The Extreme2 generation also sets itself apart from conventional suspension struts in terms of puncture resistance thanks to its superior technology. The enhanced PDS function has a newly designed hydraulic stop that works even more precisely and reliably prevents bottoming out. The two-part reservoir has also been enlarged and therefore offers more oil volume and an optimised cooling surface for effective heat dissipation. The noticeable result is consistent damper performance right up to extreme conditions.
PRECISE FINE TUNING OVER A WIDE RANGE
While the rebound damping on the Extreme2 elements is also adjusted in the tried-and-tested manner at the base of the shock absorber, the compression adjustment on the reservoir now offers a significantly larger adjustment range, which enables precise and reproducible individual set-ups. Adjustment is even easier thanks to the now differently coloured controls for adjusting the compression damping in the low and high-speed range.
SERVICEABLE LONG-LIFE COMPONENTS
Like all suspension elements from Touratech Suspension, the new Extreme2 shock absorbers are of course also fully serviceable.
From time to time or after intensive use on long-distance journeys, the shock absorbers can be dismantled and overhauled, after which they are as good as new again for consistent performance and long-lasting riding pleasure.
