New generation of suspensions

Touratech Suspension EVO

With the "EVO" line, Touratech Suspension is expanding its portfolio of performance suspensions for adventure bikes.

The Plug & Travel EVO electronic suspension elements for the GS models were already introduced in 2022 and have since proven themselves on the road with our customers. As a logical consequence, adventure bikes without electronic suspension now also benefit from the numerous innovations of the EVO shock absorbers.

EVO components are designed to satisfy the highest demands and meet the expectations of the most demanding riders.

Intensive road tests with pre-series versions of the new EVO suspension elements have been running for months in difficult terrain. In the course of the 2023 season, EVO generation suspension elements will be available for the Yamaha Ténéré 700 and the World Raid.

Baja Portalegre 500

Through to the bitter end

Filipe Elias, head of Touratech Portugal, took part in the Baja Portalegre with a Triumph Tiger 1200 Rally Pro. Here he describes his experiences.

"The Baja Portalegre 500 is the oldest, longest and most famous offroad rally in Portugal. While riders of heavy adventure bikes usually do the easier promo races, I decided to do the main race for this 36th edition. This meant I was on the road together with the pros and also had to ride the 350 kilometre long, continuously timed, final stage.

I started as the only participant in the "Big Trails" class – on a Triumph Tiger 1200 Rally Pro. A few Touratech parts such as engine guards, crash bars, Defensa hand protectors and rally tyres – that's all it took to prepare the Triumph for tough use.

And the race was indeed tough. There was heavy rain and even a small tornado on the final stage, of all places. The tracks turned into pure mud and small water crossings became raging rivers. It took me over seven hours to reach the finish. More than 90 competitors didn't finish the race, I was able to cross the finish line with the Triumph Tiger 1200 Rally Pro – an indescribable feeling."

Presentations at the EICMA

Powerful new models

The EICMA, which takes place annually in Milan, has meanwhile replaced INTERMOT as the world's leading trade fair for the motorcycle industry. Even if the visitor figures are still doctored, a lot of highly interesting news was presented.

Highlights from the Adventure Rider's point of view were certainly the completely new Suzuki V-Strom 800DE with the new parallel twin and the Honda XL750 Transalp, also with a parallel twin motor.

MV Agusta presented the production versions of the two Lucky Explorer models 9.5 and 5.5, which will be available in the coming season.

Yamaha made the tried and tested models even better with technical upgrades for the Ténéré 700 and Ténéré 700 Rally Edition.

We at Touratech are looking forward to these great models and will develop accessories for selected vehicles.

Long-term partnership

Zero Motorcycles supports BDR

The non-profit organisation Backcountry Discovery Routes (BDR) was able to win the American electric motorcycle manufacturer Zero as a partner. This multi-year cooperation includes OEM sponsorship of the upcoming BDR and BDR-X routes.

BDR and Zero are united by the vision of not only preserving and creating riding opportunities for adventure riders, but also promoting the local economy. The partners hope that the cooperation will raise awareness of the need for an efficient network of charging stations along the 13 existing as well as future BDR routes and contribute to its expansion.

45 days of adventure

Trans-Africa Expedition Gooo South

In collaboration with tour operator Overcross, Destination Yamaha Motor offers an adventure bike tour from the Mediterranean to Namibia in 45 days, crossing spectacular landscapes on challenging routes.

The start of the Gooo South trans-Africa expedition is on 12 February, 2023. A maximum of 16 riders first cross Egypt, travelling via Sudan and Ethiopia to reach Kenya. The second part of the journey begins in this East African country. Travellers are greeted by the overwhelming nature of Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia and Botswana before the final stage leads on through Namibia.

It is also possible to just participate in the northern or the southern half of the tour for three weeks at a time.

The motorcycle used will be the Yamaha Ténéré 700. The machines are perfectly fitted out with Touratech parts according to the level of difficulty of the trip. These include the ultra-robust ZEGA Evo pannier system, as well as accessory holders on the panniers for canisters. Protective equipment with fairing crash bars, headlight guard, Defensa hand protectors, etc. prevents damage in difficult terrain. The Pro windscreen adjustment allows the adaptation of the original windshield depending on the driving situation.

Touratech wishes all participants an eventful journey!
