Cartridge and shock absorber
With the new suspension components for the KOVE 450 Rally and KOVE 800X Pro, Touratech is expanding its range to include bespoke solutions for two adventure bikes designed specifically for lightweight construction and off-road use, thereby catering to riders who expect maximum performance even under demanding conditions.
The Chinese brand KOVE has made it its mission to transfer technology directly from rallying to production motorcycles. Uncompromising lightweight construction and outstanding off-road capability are the tangible results of this philosophy.
The 450 Rally combines a kerb weight of around 145 kilograms with rally-style ergonomics and a long range, whilst the 800X Pro, with its 799-cubic-centimetre in-line twin-cylinder engine and 95 hp, is designed for both long stages and challenging terrain. As is usual with production chassis, however, there remain trade-offs between comfort, payload and maximum performance under extreme conditions.
Touratech Suspension’s high-end suspension components are designed for riders who wish to fully exploit the dynamic potential of lightweight, off-road-oriented motorbikes in demanding road and off-road conditions.
Even smoother responsiveness thanks to low-friction technology
A vehicle-specific Extreme2 shock absorber is available for both models. The latest generation of this top-of-the-range model from the Travel series features a 46-mm piston with a friction-optimised piston band and a redesigned guide to achieve a responsive feel.
Precise, reproduceable setups
An advanced PDS (Progressive Damping System) ensures a defined hydraulic end stop and prevents bottoming out under heavy loads. The enlarged oil reservoir improves the thermal stability of the damping, even during prolonged use. Particularly wide adjustment ranges allow for precise, reproducible set-ups for both rebound and compression damping – the latter even separately in the high- and low-speed ranges. This enables the shock absorber to be adjusted both effectively and precisely to load, riding style and operating conditions. Like all shock absorbers from Touratech Suspension, the Extreme2 is fully serviceable.
The Extreme2 shock absorber for the KOVE 800X Pro also features hydraulic spring preload, which allows for easy adjustment to changing load conditions.
Open Cartridge Kit for upgrading the fork
As a second component for a high-quality suspension upgrade for the KOVE 800X Pro, we recommend the Touratech Suspension Open Cartridge Kit, which replaces the standard internal components of the telescopic fork. This replacement delivers improved damping characteristics whilst maintaining high stability. The system is adjustable for preload as well as rebound and compression damping; it responds sensitively and increases resistance to bottoming out during tough off-road use. The system is also fully serviceable.
