While the KTM 1290 Super Adventure flagship, which had just been thoroughly overhauled for the 2021 model year, enters the 2022 model year technically unchanged, KTM has given the 890 Adventure R several updates.

Visually, the 890 is now more closely aligned with the factory team's rally bike, the gritty 450 Rally. The newly shaped windscreen also offers optimised aerodynamics, which improves comfort on long journeys. The new basic set-up of the fully adjustable APEX suspension elements from WP is also more convenient.

The latest Bosch ABS 9.3 MP kicks in to provide support during sharp braking – also in bends. If the rider switches to offroad or the optional rally mode, an offroad ABS is available. In this configuration, the ABS on the rear wheel is deactivated, and on the front wheel, the system kicks in with a delay. This gives riders full control of the machine even in the most difficult conditions and allows them to brake into bends in a sporty manner.

The Adventure pilot receives information via a five-inch TFT display with USB-C connections and a completely new look that allows easy navigation through the menus using colourful pictograms and intuitive graphics. Other functionalities include a turn-by-turn navigation system and telephone connection.

The new demo mode for the assistance systems is particularly customer-friendly. After purchase, customers can try out the full programme of electronic helpers over 1500 kilometres before deciding on the final configuration.
